COTAM Partners

As we move forward, Clothing of the American Mind is striving to create active partnerships with progressive organizations. There are many important and hard-working organizations in the United States who are unyielding in their efforts to protect our future and take back our country. We hope our connection with these groups will in turn bring you more awareness of these organizations, their mission in our communities and what you can do to help. As we identify and connect with these groups and share that information here, our community grows larger and our reach and power increases. Check in here in the future as we introduce new partners.

American Civil Liberties Union :: http://www.aclu-sc.org/

The government of the United States is built on two basic principles: (1) majority rule through democratic elections; and (2) protection of individuals from any attempts by the majority to curtail individual liberties and rights, as spelled out in the Bill of Rights. The Constitution and Bill of Rights set the ground rules for individual liberty, which include the freedoms of speech, association and religion, freedom of the press, and the right to privacy, to equal protection of the laws and to due process of law. The ACLU was founded to defend and secure these rights and to extend them to people who have been excluded from their protection.

Iraq Veterans Against the War (IVAW) is a group of veterans who have served since September 11, 2001, including during Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom. We are committed to saving lives and ending the violence in Iraq by an immediate withdrawal of all occupying forces. We also believe that the governments that sponsored these wars are indebted to the men and women who were forced to fight them and must give their Soldiers, Marines, Sailors and Airmen the benefits that are owed to them upon their return home. We welcome all active duty, National Guard, reservists and recent veterans into our ranks. Confidentiality can be assured. What does this mean? To join IVAW or for more information, please email ivaqvet@mail.com.

After Downing Street View Partner Website

 After Downing Street :: http://www.afterdowningstreet.org

After Downing Street is a nonpartisan coalition of over 200 veterans groups, peace groups, and political activist groups that has worked since May 2005 to pressure both Congress and the media to investigate whether President Bush has committed impeachable offenses in connection with the Iraq war. The coalition takes its name from the emergence in May and June of 2005 of several documents that quickly came to be known as the Downing Street Memos. After Downing Street has worked closely with the peace movement in the U.S. and abroad, organizing national days on which events have been held in hundreds of cities, lobbying in Congress for investigations, censure, and impeachment, introducing and passing pro-impeachment resolutions at the local and state levels, and organizing the peace movement to address the issue of accountability for the war. In the process, we have seen the percentage of Americans who believe the war was based on lies climb and the percentage of Americans who want the troops brought home rise right behind it.
